Your vet career in Germany starts here
Home-visit and surgical vet jobs with time for your patients. We support you with your diploma recognition, relocation and advanced language courses, from your first contact to your first house call.
What makes us different
Why home visits?
-
Time
Time for your patients
6 to 8 home visits a day instead of a busy clinic schedule. That leaves enough time to get to know each animal, examine it thoroughly and explain everything to its owner. And you see what stays hidden in a practice: the stairs, the litter box, the food bowl. Because good medicine takes time.
-
Work Planning
Your schedule fits your life
You help shape your own shift plan, and your preferences go straight into it. Family, hobbies or simply free evenings: your life outside of work gets the space it needs. Because only those who have time can truly be there for others.
-
Trust
You are the decision maker
Your diagnosis, your treatment. We use first names, keep hierarchies flat, and your professional judgement counts. When you need advice, more than 120 vets across Germany have your back. Because trust is the basis of good teamwork.

The felmo hybrid model
-
Two paths, one system
Most practices stop where their possibilities end. Home visits reach a limit, and an outside clinic doesn’t know the patient. At felmo, it’s different: our mobile vets diagnose and treat on site, our surgical practices in Berlin, Bochum and Frankfurt take over whatever goes beyond that, and afterwards the mobile team takes care of aftercare again.
-
What this means for you
Whatever your role: one record follows the entire treatment journey, with no lost information and no paperwork. Mobile vets and surgeons exchange ideas and learn from each other, so your network reaches beyond your own field. And your path stays open: at felmo, you have opportunities to grow professionally.
Still unsure?
You won’t be on your own
How our trainee programme works.
-
Paid and at your pace
- Depending on your experience, you ride along with experienced colleagues for up to 6 paid weeks. You start on your own when you’re ready.
-
Learning the German system
- On real home visits, you learn how things work in Germany: the app, the routes and surprises like traffic or longer appointments.
-
A clear training plan
- Our Medical Training & Development team supports you with a training path, SOPs and workshops, for example on neutering.
-
Support afterwards too
- After the programme, vet support is available by phone and chat, and your People Lead stays by your side.

Häufige Fragen
-
You need German at B2 level with a certificate, e.g. from Goethe, telc or ÖSD, before we can make you an offer. You don’t need a specialist language exam like in human medicine. Once you start, we pay for a veterinary German course.
-
If you studied in the EU, the EEA or Switzerland, your degree is recognised automatically. If you studied elsewhere, the authorities check whether your degree is equivalent, sometimes followed by a knowledge test. You can apply from your home country. A specialised agency supports you throughout, and we cover the costs.
-
It depends on your nationality, not where you studied. With an EU, EEA or Swiss passport, you don’t. Otherwise, you usually need a visa, for example the EU Blue Card. We’ll work out the right route with you.
-
With an EU degree, you need your licence to practise (Approbation), which usually takes about three months. If you studied outside the EU, a temporary work permit can let you start earlier.
-
With an EU degree, it usually takes three to four months from your offer to your first day.
-
For your move or a first temporary flat, you get a relocation budget by arrangement. We also help you with registration and paperwork.
-
As a mobile vet, yes, because you drive to your patients in your felmo car. In surgery, you work at one of our practices, so it isn’t required. An EU driving licence is valid in Germany without conversion.
-
It depends on your role. On home visits, you start your day at your felmo car and visit 6 to 8 patients on a planned route in your city. In surgery, you work at one of our practices: planned procedures, diagnostics and consultations, often with cases coming straight from home visits. In both roles, you meet your team every two weeks.
